10 Practical Tips for Your First Boat Trip

Knowing how the day unfolds makes a first trip far easier. These Bodrum boat trip tips come from the questions guests ask most often before joining our full-day tour, which leaves Gümbet Harbour at 10:30 and returns to the same pier at 17:00. Nothing here is decoration; all of it is practical.

Three things to sort out first

  1. Book ahead. The boat takes 100 people and mid-season days fill up. A message to +90 536 306 6359 on WhatsApp is enough, and you can pay by card or transfer.
  2. Ask about the shuttle. Hotel transfer from Gümbet, Bitez and Ortakent is included in the price with no extra charge. Give your hotel name when you book so your pickup time is fixed.
  3. Eat before you arrive. There is no breakfast on board, so have yours at the hotel. If you like to see the shape of the day first, our hour-by-hour breakdown of the schedule covers it.

What belongs in your bag

  1. Bring your own towel. Towels are not provided, and with four swim stops this is the item people forget most.
  2. Strong sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. There is shade on deck, but you are outdoors all day.
  3. Some cash or a card. Lunch is included in the ticket, drinks are not; the deck bar is a separate tab.
  4. Your own snorkel if you have one. The last stop, Akvaryum Bay, rewards it.

Small things that help on the day

  1. Use the stops well: each bay gives you 30-40 minutes. Get into the water quickly at Dalgıç Bay and save the photos for Aşıklar Bay.
  2. Do not miss lunch. Chicken, pasta and salad are served around 13:00 at Ada Boğazı.
  3. Understand the music. It stays in the background all morning and lifts after lunch; reading about how the set builds through the afternoon sets the right expectation.

Who should skip this trip

If you want a silent day at sea, or you travel with a pet, look elsewhere: animals are not allowed on board. Families do well here because children aged 0-6 travel free and 6-12 pay half, but a long day on deck can tire very small babies. The boat is back at the pier at 17:00, so plan your evening around that.

For the wider picture, our general guide to the tour is a good starting point. Bodrum has many bays outside our route as well, such as the one described in this piece on Kızıl Koy, but our own stops remain Dalgıç, Ada Boğazı, Aşıklar and Akvaryum.

We also cover this in a separate article: the article we dedicated to it.
