Notes from the sea

From Gümbet Beach to the Boat: A Step-by-Step Walk

If your hotel is on Gümbet beach, getting to the boat is rarely a transport problem; it is a short walk along the shore. First-time visitors simply do not know which way to head in the morning or who to look for once they reach the harbour. Here is the Gümbet beach boat tour departure in order, from waking up to stepping on deck.

Step 1: Build the morning around the departure

The boat leaves Gümbet Harbour at 10:30 and returns to the same jetty at 17:00. Breakfast is not part of the programme, so eat at your hotel before you set off. Leave a little margin: waiting a few minutes at the jetty beats arriving out of breath.

Step 2: Pack before you leave the room

There is no shop on board, so anything you forget stays forgotten for the day. Keep this short list in mind:

  • Towels are not provided, bring your own.
  • Sunscreen and a hat, since shaded deck space is limited.
  • Wear your swimwear underneath to save time at the first stop, though changing cabins are available.
  • Cash or card: lunch is included in the price, drinks are not and the deck bar charges separately.
  • A snorkel mask if you own one, as the final stop is Aquarium Bay.

Step 3: Follow the seafront towards the harbour

The promenade running along Gümbet beach leads straight to the harbour, and the jetties appear where the cafés thin out. Comfortable shoes and a light bag are all you need. Why the trip starts here rather than in the town centre is covered in our comparison of the two departure points.

Step 4: What happens at the jetty

  1. Open the meeting details sent to you after booking on the WhatsApp line +90 536 306 6359.
  2. A crew member checks the name list at the head of the jetty; you can settle up by card, bank transfer or cash.
  3. Once aboard, choose your spot. Capacity is 100 guests, and early arrivals get the shaded tables.

After departure the route is fixed: Diver Bay, Ada Boğazı, Lovers Bay and Aquarium Bay, with a 30 to 40 minute stop in each. The music stays in the background all morning and the tempo rises after lunch, so a silent day at sea is not what this trip offers. The rest of the day is described in our guide to how the Gümbet departure works.

If you would rather not walk

Hotel pick-up from Gümbet, Bitez and Ortakent is included in the price with nothing extra to pay, so the morning walk is optional. Tickets are 1,500 TL per person, children aged 0-6 travel free, ages 6-12 pay half, and cancellations are accepted up to three days before the tour date. Planning a quieter day for two?
