Plenty of visitors step onto the deck in Gümbet carrying a picture in their heads: breakfast at sea, a bar where everything is covered, the sun going down over the water. Some of that matches the day, some of it does not. Below we take the most repeated claims about a fun boat trip in Gümbet and set them next to the actual programme.
"The boat leaves early and breakfast is served on board"
Not true. Departure from Gümbet harbour is at 10:30, so being at the pier shortly beforehand is enough. There is no breakfast service on deck. The only meal included in the price is lunch, served around 13:00 while the boat is anchored at Ada Boğazı: chicken, pasta and salad. Eat at your hotel before you come.
"The music is loud from the first minute"
Also wrong. In the morning the sound stays at background level and the first swim stop at Dalgıç Koyu is a calm one. The tempo rises after lunch, when the DJ set and the dance animations really begin. If you want to know how the deck is organised, our piece on what a daytime party boat actually looks like covers it.
"The ticket price covers everything"
It does not. Here is what 1,500 TL per person includes and excludes:
- Included: lunch, hotel pick-up from Gümbet, Bitez and Ortakent, life jackets and insurance
- Not included: alcoholic and soft drinks, paid separately at the bar on deck
- Not provided: towels, so bring your own
If the price gaps you see along the beach confuse you, our guide to the wording used on the signboards at the pier makes comparison easier.
"A fun trip means it is no place for families"
Not quite. Children aged 0-6 travel free and 6-12 pay half; there are toilets, a shower and a changing cabin, capacity is 100 guests and safety equipment is on board. Still, honesty helps: if you are looking for a quiet corner in the afternoon, this is not your trip. Pets are not allowed and smoking is limited to the designated areas.
"We watch the sunset from the water"
No, and this one comes up often. The boat returns to the same pier at 17:00, while in summer the sun sets much later. For anyone staying in Gümbet that is an advantage: you still have time to shower, rest and make your evening plans.
